I’m thinking of applying for a post as second in department. How much extra work is this likely to mean?
Much will depend on the size and complexity of the department. What tasks are included in the job description? It is worth asking what the other departments in the school pay, as there should be similar structures for similar amounts of work. Pay scales for management posts are under review at present and any new appointments will be temporary pending the outcome of the Government’s deliberations.
