English Resources provides a range of lesson plan material, from a unit showing the differences between speech and writing in TV soaps to revision guides for GCSE poetry anthologies. Learning plans are divided into age groups and subject matter but few include the lesson time required. All ages are considered, from primary to A2, and the GCSE section is the largest. An acrostic lesson for Year 6, “What Year 7 has in store”, catches the eye: there’s an acrostic about Robin Hood and space for pupils to create their own. Many extension activities are included. There is a particular focus on the Northern Examinations and Assessment Board (NEAB) English syllabus in the ASA2 section, but the thousands of lesson plans on all aspects of English language and literature are useful for others, too.
