Something has gone very wrong

I read in TES that “UK headteachers are the best in the developed world, says OECD” (16 March). Then, a week later, that “more than half are considering leaving the profession”, while The Guardian reported that headteacher sackings are at a record high because “school leaders, like football managers, face dismissal when promotion through league tables is not fast enough”.

Something major in the British education system is just not right. I never entered this job to be Malky Mackay.

Robert Evans, Headteacher.
