School pupils will have the chance to take part in an online debate about climate change with MPs from across the political spectrum.
Under 18s can log on to the conversation, “Protecting the Planet: Is climate change being treated seriously enough by political parties?”
between June 11 and 26.
Participants will have the chance to tell the politicians what they think of the way they are tackling climate change.
The 10 MPs joining in the debate include Ian Pearson, a minister at the Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs. The shadow minister for the environment, Greg Barker, will also be online.
Barry Griffiths, manager of the HeadsUp cross-party online forum, said:
“Young people are passionate about the environment, so we anticipate a hotly contested debate about whether the political parties are taking climate change seriously enough.
“We encourage every young person who worries about the future of our planet to get involved and let MPs know what they think.”
