The NASUWT is continuing to endorse Colonial’s free-standing additional voluntary contributions (FSAVCs), even after leading actuary Bacon amp; Woodrow, which advises the unions and the Department for Education and Employment on the teachers’ in-house AVC scheme, condemned FSAVCs.

A report by the company said that the high charges of many FSAVC schemes meant that even the worst-performing in-house AVCs produced better returns than the average free-standing scheme.
