I applaud the vision of the Old Vic’s artistic director Kevin Spacey and play director Trevor Nunn for staging Inherit the Wind in Darwin’s Bicentenary year (“Spacey takes on teacher who dared to evolve,” September 25). Science teachers must have the courage to teach evolution in the classroom, even if it upsets people of faith. What use is a unified society that’s based on a lie? In an age of spin and political correctness, the play is an inspiration to all who passionately believe in free speech. I can’t wait to take a group of my sixth formers to the show.
