This is a difficult issue. The school year normally starts in late August or the beginning of September. Schools would like you to be paid from then.
However, in these days of large student loans and overdrafts, many schools recognise that if they want to you to be fully prepared for the start of term then they will have to pay you over the summer. This is especially the case for undergraduates who don’t receive the bursary.
