If we have any kind of proper summer, young children will need to be aware of the risks involved in over-exposure to the sun.
SunSmart, the campaign focusing on protection from skin cancers, has produced a series of on-line resources to be used in nurseries and primary schools. There is a generous amount of background information for teachers as well as activities for children, including designing sunglasses and effective kinds of canopy, as well as a shadow survey to find the places on the school site where the glare is strongest and the shade safest.
