Suspected abuse

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/suspected-abuse
I think one of my students is suffering abuse at home. She regularly has bruises but my approaches on the matter are brushed off. I have raised the matter with the college social services but they say they can do little unless she is prepared to volunteer information. Any advice?

This student will at some time feel the need for help, but it may take a while for her to pluck up the courage to ask for it. Teaching should include the instinct to protect. A caring college will I hope give her the confidence to seek help and provide the means to do so.
