Can you co-ordinate a subject without a teaching and learning responsibility (TLR) allowance?

It depends on what is meant by co-ordinate. In a small primary school, where all teachers co-ordinate different parts of the curriculum on an equal basis, the budget probably won’t stretch that far even though there is a case for everyone to have a payment. The co-ordination level would fall within the responsibilities expected of any classroom teacher. In a secondary school, where there are defined areas, co-ordination is a formal responsibility and should not be undertaken unless you are being paid for the responsibility, particularly if you are responsible for the work of other staffers.
