Some 25,000 teachers signed up last year for free technology lessons provided by Intel, the US giant whose processors run most of the world’s computers, writes Neil Levis.

A further 100,000 are expected to do so this year with heads anxious to offer their schools as training centres. Some chosen by Intel have been given a cmputer suite with 24 monitors.

The company pays 200 expert teachers to be instructors on the 30-hour courses.

Later this year it will launch skool.com, a website for GCSE pupils featuring high-quality moving graphics and interactive lessons.
