GCSE Bitesize Revision: Business Studies

BBC2 Monday, May 6, 2-4am

This valuable series continues with a two-hour programme on business studies for recording overnight. It covers business aims and finance, organisation, people in business, marketing, production, as well as the wider economic environment.

To complement it, there is a BBC Bitesize Revision website (www.bbc.co.ukrevision) which includes summary details on all the topics and multi-choice tests - inviting you, for example, to choose the best means of communicating information in different circumstances (fax, report, meeting), exploring your knowledge of VAT, EC regulations and consumer law, or testing your ability to work out percentages and various exchange rates.

Darren Gough’s Cricket Academy

C4 Thursdays, to May 23, 10-10.25am (Colts), 10.25-10.50am (Seniors)

Darren Gough is one of England’s best fast bowlers and a great front man for this seasonal series on the national game. Also available on video (pound;19.99), it comes in two parts: Colts, for 8 to 11-year-olds, and Seniors, for 11 to 16s. With the help of Darren and fellow stars we learn about bowling, batting and fielding.

Numbertime: Addition and Subtraction

BBC2 Wednesday, May 8, 11.05-11.20am

This new strand for four to seven-year-olds gives real-life contexts for problem-solving in maths, today concentrating on patterns of subtraction. The Numbertime website (www. bbc.co.ukeducationnumbertime) has a new dartboard game featuring the cartoon characters Ann and Addem Ant, plus a set of teachers’ notes. An activity pack together with a cassette with music and songs from the programmes are also available.

Landmarks: Ancient Egypt

BBC2 Friday, May 10, 12.10-12.30pm

Lively young presenters Jamie Theakston and Marcelle Duprey take nine to eleven-year-olds on a journey in search of the ever-fascinating world of Ancient Egypt, where the afterlife was of prime importance, illustrated in paintings on the walls of temples and inside pyramids. But the archaeological remains can also tell us about the everyday life of ordinary people.

Rough Science

BBC 2 Tuesday, May 7, 7pm-7.30pm

A team of scientists are dragged out of their laboratories and use their scientific knowledge to overcome a set of obstacles. As they get themselves out of various fixes, they impart plenty of scientific theory along the way. The interactive website to support the series at www.open2.net includes details of the tasks set. A related booklet is also available.
