* Tell parents everything you discussed and decided * Look forward to decisions coming up * Be positive but don’t duck contentious issues * Involve all governors and key staff as well * Show parents you are human
* Concentrate on children and learning * Use relevant examples of children’s work * Try to put a picture or diagram on every page * Use headlines and boxes to break up text * Be direct and personal (“we decided...” not “it was resolved...” )
* Use short sentences * Ensure the first one makes you want to read the second * Write as ordinary people speak * Be brief * Ask parents what they like or want in the report
