TODDLERS playing with a toy keyboard showed a well-defined appreciation of music, particularly if it was loud and fast. Research by Dr Alexandra Lamont, a psychology lecturer from Keele University, revealed that the two and three-year-olds did not favour either classical or pop, but prefered well-known pieces. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, for instance, was more popular than the composer’s lesser-known work.
