Tropical fruits grow profusely in the Windward Islands, but those who do the real work often suffer from the inequalities of global trading. Windward Bananas from Farming and Countryside Education is a well-produced CD-Rom that brings many of the relevant issues alive for children at KS2-3. It includes several PowerPoint presentations, showing striking evidence about the climate, the landscape and the fruit at various stages of its life cycle. We also meet some producers, and are invited to think intelligently about their communities and their economic prospects under conditions of fairer trade.
