Toshiba and Leeds Metropolitan University have launched a best practice research programme that aims to identify how portable computers can help to raise student achievement, reduce exclusion and cut bureaucracy for teachers. The programme is linked to a successful advanced professional diploma that has teachers examine and continually improve their teaching practice to help raise standards in their classrooms. About 25 teachers will be recruited for the initiative, which will be run as an online course from next month. The participants will create a network of practitioners to help Toshiba better tailor its products to students’ needs.
