A newly merged Welsh college has become the first in the UK to appoint a president who will act as figurehead and ambassador for the institution. Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas AM has been appointed honorary president of Coleg Llandrillo Cymru, which recently merged with Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. Lord Elis-Thomas said: “I believe that we are moving towards a very exciting period for post-16 education in Wales, and I am delighted to be part of it.”
