AN EDINBURGH teacher in the rare position of having been sacked by the education committee this week is to take the council to an industrial tribunal alleging unfair dismissal.

Peter Peace, aged 43, has been suspended from his post as

assistant head at the city’s Royal High for more than two years pending an investigation into

allegations of improper behaviour towards female pupils. Inquiries were held u after a lengthy legal wrangle between

the authority and the Educational Institute of Scotland which

prevented Mr Peace’s direct

dismissal by the director of

education.

Meanwhile in East Ayrshire, Michael Roos, the teacher who along with a social worker left a nine year old boy with behavioural problems in a roadside lay by, resigned on the eve of a dismissal hearing by the council.
