There are a number of good education packs promoting study of towns, but fewer devoted to rural life. Valuing Villages from Farming and Countryside Education is a welcome newcomer. It’s for pupils at KS12.
Country children are encouraged to reflect on what other people think of where they live and how they see it themselves, using questionnaires and investigations into local treasures and eyesores. They can also map the networks of social life in the village and learn that you are never too young to make citizenship more than just a word.
