For his new series, Rolf Harris not only paints like the Masters, but tries unfamiliar techniques: printmaking, murals and sculpture. We start with Toulouse-Lautrec, followed by Klimt, Rodin and Rousseau. Rolf imitates their style and method, describing the characteristics of each work and slipping in a brief biography. Some information is fascinating, particularly in the programme on Rodin where he finds out about the different stages of bronze casting. How much you enjoy the series will depend on how you feel about Rolf’s ability to bow respectfully, while patting his own back: “Of course, Rodin was an undisputed master,” he concedes. “I’ll never be as good, but I’m quite pleased with my version of his ‘Thinker’.”
