This week sees several programmes that mark the first anniversary of the Twin Towers attack, including this live programme, introduced by David Dimbleby, of memorial services and events around the world. There is footage of the attacks taken by two documentary makers who were working on a film of the New York firefighting service (911, BBC1, September 11, 8.30-10pm and 10.30-11pm), as well as special editions of regulars such as Question Time. There are programmes that attempt to understand the background to what happened: how it affects America’s relations with the world, what it means for Islam and how it fits into the pattern of global terrorism (Terrorism, BBC Choice, September 11, 11.05-11.55pm).
