I am reading Bounce by the sports writer Matthew Syed. In the 1980s over half of the UK’s top table tennis players, including Syed, lived in two streets in Reading. Spartak, a Moscow tennis club, created more top-20 women players between 2005 and 2007 than the entire US. Syed concludes that most people can achieve great things with hard work and a good teacher. I have bought copies for my staff.
