1,000 years in Tain

Tain Through Time is an unusual visitor centre which illustrates the history of this Highland town over the past millennium through acting, artefacts and audio-visual presentation. The site includes a traditional museum and a medieval church. You can learn about the pilgrimages to the shrine of Saint Duthac, who was born in the town. Children have a chance to dress up and role play, and you might be entertained by the jester from King James IV’s court.

Tain Through Time, Tower Street, Tain, Highland IV19 1DY. Curator Estelle Quick, tel 01862 894089. Reduced fees for schools. www.tainmuseum.demon.co.uk
