Another lot of trendy nonsense

Once again we have some dopey academic seeking to reduce the best of the literature that the English language has to offer to the lowest possible common denominator.

Eric Hadley (“Bard’s Big Brother stars face pupil vote”, TES, July 26) obviously assumes that he is doing the pupils in Cardiff schools a favour by claiming that such crapulous nonsense as Jerry Springer and Big Brother is of equal worth to Shakespeare.

If this is the standard of the work expected of his paper published in Reading, Literacy and Language I shall not be rushing to get a copy.
