The Institute for Apprenticeships apprentice panel is set to meet for the first time today as a full complement set with the task of informing best practice in the sector.
The panel will decide group priorities and ways of working as part of its task to influence and shape policy and ensure that the apprentice voice is heard within the decision-making structure of the institute.
The IfA appointed 21 new members to its apprentice panel last week, bringing the total to 26. It follows the launch of a recruitment drive in April, which saw 40 applicants apply for the role.
‘The voice of the apprentice’
Members of the panel include current and recent apprentices, who have completed their apprenticeship within the past two years, from a wide range of occupations and from across England.
IfA chief executive Sir Gerry Berragan said the voice of the apprentice is central to the work of the institute.
He added: “We’ve therefore more than doubled the numbers on the apprentice panel, so we can have a truly representative group to inform best practice and quality standards. I’m pleased to welcome the new members and look forward to working closely with the panel.”
