A former Newport teacher has been barred from the profession for a year after failing to disclose a police caution for common assault, and a conviction for obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception. Yazdan Kayhanian, who taught at Bettws high school, was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct by a disciplinary committee of the General Teaching Council for Wales last month, and suspended from the teacher register until next February.
