John Dunford, general secretary of the Secondary Heads Association, had a letter from the Prime Minister this week about Downing Street spokesman Alastair Campbell’s comment that comprehensives were “bog standard”. It pparently signified “the Government’s commitment to modernise the country’s secondary schools so that every child can receive a decent education and the opportunity to make the best of their talents”. Phew!
