* Science Year to be launched at the Science Museum next Friday.

* Giant jump at 11am when children will simultaneously leap while measuring the effects on seismometers, kicking off a series of mass participation experiments.

* A Wellcome Trust project will see 11 to 16-year-olds working with actors andscientists to produce short pieces of science-related drama. The best pieces will be shown at the NationalTheatre in April.

* Association for Science Education to develop five free CD-Roms to use in lessons covering themes such as “Is there life out there?”
