Vulnerable teenagers likely to slip off the radar will learn about business as part of a Young Enterprise Scotland project.

It is the only Scottish initiative, and one of five in the UK, to receive a grant from BBC Children in Need and The Hunter Foundation for work with young people expected to fall out of education, training or employment, or who have already done so.

The money will fund a three-year project with 900 young people aged 14-18 in different parts of Scotland. It is aimed at care-leavers, initially in and around Glasgow. The business-orientated programme will work on skills and help participants find the right jobs and training, with assistance from charities Aberlour and Quarriers.

Young Enterprise Scotland will compare notes with the other four organisations to receive grants, three in England and one in Northern Ireland.
