It’s been a busy week in FE, as students in colleges across England settled back into face-to-face learning, staff continued to push out thousands of rapid flow tests to keep everyone safe.

It has also been a big week for awards: the Festival of Learning revealed their shortlist, our very own Tes FE awards judge Bob Harrison cast his expert eye over the entries in the outstanding use in technology category, and students from Derwen College were honoured at the Outstanding Citizen Awards.

College Covid tests: 246 positives in first week back

Mental health:Difficult’ to be a leader right now

More: Feeling low? Remember the student success stories

By the end of today @BHASVIC will have conducted over 7,000 Covid-19 tests during the last 10 days with 2 positive cases detected. Many thanks to our amazing and cooperative students and our highly dedicated testing team! @AoC_info @SFCA_info pic.twitter.com/SsqBZxn39F

Photography student Dianne from ACL took the rapid foow test again this week. “It’s actually very reassuring. At 70, I really don’t want to catch Covid but I cannot wait to get back in that dark room and not get locked down ever again. It’s so important that we all get it done.” pic.twitter.com/UOUisEMH1R

Wish I had two brains sometimes, so I could just park one half of things and enjoy the other half.

The emoji which I relate to the most at the moment is: ?

Love land and environment college leadership - first question of the day, “Boss, a lad wants to drive his tractor to college, is that OK...?”

So two emerging themes.....The dominance of Microsoft Teams.....and the fact that it seems student attendance and engagement has improved online.....lets hope we can learn from this in a blended learning future for FE https://t.co/Pk8Xk15XEu
