Google takes on illiteracy

Internet search engine Google has launched a new scheme aimed at helping tackle the global problem of illiteracy.

Classic children’s books, Bollywood-inspired electronic education materials, videos and scholarly articles about the theory of reading will be available to anyone who searches the new site. Ministers welcomed the initiative which, they said, has the potential to raise standards of literacy.
