Student Investor 2006 is a financial capability initiative for students aged 14-19 enabling them to take part in The Portfolio Challenge, a UK-wide investment game. Prizes include a trip to New York, for the winning team. More than 30,000 students from some 800 schools participated in the 2005 programme. Between November 1, 2005 and February 28, 2006, each team will invest a virtual pound;100,000 in stocks from a list of FTSE100 companies and the FTSE SmallCap Index. Each month the team with the biggest growth in their portfolio will receive a prize. At the end of February, the 20 best-performing teams will be invited to attend the regional finals. The website includes activity sheets and teachers’ notes to help incorporate the competition into your lessons. Register by November 1 to take part.
