Only a year after Jim Martin left the Educational Institute of Scotland for a post in human resources at Scottish Amicable, Frank Pignatelli is to join the board of Associated Newspapers where he will be charged with identifying and training future managers.
There must be an attraction in what used to be called personnel affairs. But educationists left at the chalkface will be interested in whether Strathclyde’s director can persuade high heid-yins at the Daily Mail and its Sunday equivalent to stop their perpetual teacher-bashing campaigns.
Also, will he train the London Evening Standard to be less anti-Scottish?
