Books
- I love to read and switch between my Kindle app and paperbacks. My all-time favourite series is Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City. I love the intertwining relationships between the characters over 30 years. Maupin’s descriptions of San Francisco, where the tales are set, are beautiful and realistic. I enjoy reading Alexander McCall Smith, Irvine Welsh and Christopher Brookmyre. At the moment, my reading material consists of a great deal of Julia Donaldson, Roger Hargreaves and Judith Kerr: my two-year-old is addicted to The Gruffalo, Little Miss books and The Tiger Who Came to Tea.
TV
- I’m a sucker for American TV shows. During the 1990s I was a huge Friends and ER fan, and at the moment I am addicted to The Big Bang Theory. (pictured). The writers have created a fantastic character in Sheldon, and his unwitting sarcasm makes me laugh out loud. Bazinga! I have enjoyed Homeland, NCIS and Elementary.
Music
- I have always had a rather embarrassing addiction to pop music. As a teenager I was a huge fan of Madonna, Prince and Wet Wet Wet (pictured), and I’ve not grown out of my love for cheesy pop - I’ve been to numerous Take That and Robbie Williams concerts. As a result of my husband’s eclectic taste, I have spread my musical wings and enjoy Emeli Sande, Ellie Goulding, Adele and Maroon 5.
Gaming
- I’ve always loved gaming and own a lot of games consoles for one person. I particularly like racing games and the Lego series but have never been into war games. My favourite console is the Wii and now I play it with my daughter. She thinks the Peppa Pig games are fantastic - I’m not so sure.
