How do students around the world compare at science?  Every three years the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) tests 15-year-olds on science. The tests are not linked to a school curriculum but are designed to assess to what extent students can think scientifically and apply their knowledge to real-life situations. The score for each country is an average of all student scores in that country. The average score among the countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is 500.
