YOUR leader, “A test of faith” (TES, January 14), comments that in their opposition to church schools, “secularists may have to tone down their rhetoric”. But secularists are already in the median position here. Indeed, the word “secularist” is a synonym for “neutral” on the religious front.

We donot demand publicly-funded atheist schools; we are merely demanding a refusal by the Government to fund the proposed doubling of C of E secondary schools out of the public purse.
