China, Ghana and Singapore are the three countries that value teachers the most, according to a poll of 35 countries.
Canada and Malaysia complete the top five, while the UK ranks 12th - ahead of the EU countries included in the survey.
Based on data gathered by the Global Teacher Status Index 2018, which polled over 35,000 adults aged 16-64 across 35 countries, the new analysis published today by the Varkey Foundation includes a ranking of countries according to the Implicit Teacher Status.

Aimed at gauging people’s instinctive opinions of teachers, the survey asked those polled to indicate as quickly as possible whether they think teachers are trusted or untrusted, inspiring or uninspiring, caring or uncaring, intelligent or unintelligent, among other word associations.
The analysis also found a link between Implicit Teacher Status and performance in Pisa, finding that in general countries performing higher on Pisa had also a higher opinion of teachers.
