On A Roll, an educational project for primary schools, comes from Nouvelle, which makes toilet paper. It combines the study of paper, its history, properties and uses, with a poetry competition. A free pack contains five information cards about papyrus, pulp and modern manufacturing processes, and five more with ideas for activities involving papier-mache, maths andmarbling. The principal emphasis is on recycling. The poetry contest, on an environmental theme, offers a pound;1,000 “make-over” prize for the winning school’s garden and a pound;50 book token for the successful poet. Available from Educational Communications, On A Roll, 11 Lakeside, FREEPOST 59, Rochester, Kent ME2 4BR. Tel: 020 7453 4684. Fax: 020 7453 4650. TD.
