MERGER PROPOSALS by St Andrew’s College of Education and Glasgow University have been backed by Donald Dewar, the Secretary of State. Bart McGettrick, St Andrew’s principal, described the news as “a profound move” which represented Catholic education “coming of age”. The target date for the merger is April 1.
