AS the end of term thankfully approaches it seems unkind to mention possible activities for the start of next. But this one is a form of escape. The Around Alone Yacht Race begins on September 15 in New York.
These expensive craft will stop briefly in Torbay on the south coast later in the month on their way round the world. Schools will have access to a new website (www.education.hsbc.com) to follow the race and the national curriculum at the same time. The 32 weekly modules are designed for nine to 12-year-olds and include work in science, maths, English, geography, history, technology, art and music.
