The City of Edinburgh volleyball club had an incredible 101 entrants for its annual Cardinal Sports Youth Cup last Sunday, double the number of last year. It is now the biggest youth volleyball event in Scotland.

With 400 matches played during one day, the tournament was spread over three sports centres, at Meadowbank, Drumbrae and Crags. It featured the first national competition for the P4-P5 age group.

Last month, the Scottish Volleyball Association schools’ festival programme was given a flying start when teams from all over Scotland attended the Grangemouth Open.

Belmont Academy entered 11 teams, six girls’ and five boys’.
