Win a Cork guide

Cork is about to light the blue touchpaper on a huge programme of attractions for its reign as European Capital of Culture 2005 (www.cork2005.ie). Among the 236 creative projects will be many free events in public spaces. But it may not be easy to find them. Cork’s streets and alleys are notoriously confusing - the Long Island and Costigan’s bars have the same address, for example, even though they are in different streets.

Linda Fallon, the Cork-born and bred author of the new Bradt City Guide to Cork (pound;6.95, www.bradtguides.com), neatly unravels such mysteries and delves into much else you’ll need to know besides. So if you’re not to miss a “Promenade with a capital P” version of Macbeth, the latest trends in architecture displayed in a pavilion designed by Daniel Libeskind, or Superbia, “a show where the skills and insights of adulthood are creatively placed alongside the uncertainties, imagination and memories of childhood”, you’ll need her guide.

We have 10 copies of the Bradt City Guide to Cork to give away. To enter our draw, email friday@tes.co.uk or send a postcard marked Bradt guide offer to the address on page 3 by December 13.
