Ted Wragg, former professor of education at Exeter university and TES columnist, has been appointed chair of the University of the First Age. The UFA is an educational charity working with local authorities, education action zones, schools and communities to extend learning beyond the school day. More than 40,000 young people have now taken part in a UFA activity.
