Signs include pallor, sweating, trembling, drowsiness, glazed eyes, lack of concentration, tearfulness or aggression. Blood sugar tends to drop before break or lunch, or during exercise. Keep sugary foods to hand and allow the child to snack. Never send a hypoglycemic child to get food on their own and never force-feed a hypoglycemic child who has become unconscious. Let parents know if hypo has occurred. An adjustment of insulin may be needed. If a child is going to the toilet a lot, blood sugar may be high.
