(Photograph) - Essence of Africa: the runner-up of the Scottish Schools Africa Challenge is a collage entitled ‘The African Dream’, by six S2 girls at Leith Academy in Edinburgh. Eilidh Henry, Jacqueline Thain, Shonagh Donaldson, Nicola Fox, Kayleigh Gaunt and Amy Johnston were in the same home economics class and worked on the project over lunchtimes with their teacher, Aileen Cairns. The Path to Education is made from chilli powder and tapioca. The aim of the artwork is to contrast the dream of African children to get an education, which many miss out on because of lack of teachers and resources, with problems in Scottish schools because some children do not want to take advantage of opportunities available to them
