Rae Angus, principal of Aberdeen College, remains Scotland’s top-earning FE principal, on a salary of pound;112,000. Research for The TES Scotland, based on the most recent published college accounts for 2003-04, show that the runner-up is Bill Wardie, principal of James Watt College, whose salary last year was pound;104,000 - although, with college expenditure of pound;33 million, he was responsible for pound;2.3 million more than Mr Angus.

The other college principals in the top 10 bracket of earners, on salaries of more than pound;85,000, were those at West Lothian, Kilmarnock, Reid Kerr, Stow, Edinburgh’s Telford, Stevenson, Dundee and the then Glasgow College of Building and Printing.
