Recent changes to national courses of study, including more time for English language lessons, are intended to help young South Koreans become more internationally-minded.
The changes are a response to the government’s desire for South Korea to become a prominent member of the international community.
High-school pupils will also learn Western history and geography while elementary-school children are being encouraged to study the West’s culture including its food, sports and ways of life.
