Should stranded staff be paid?

PlymouthMaid

“I don’t really think they should be paid, although obviously it would be nice. Budgets are tight and supply will need to be paid. I think it is the absent member of staff who should take the hit, not the school.”

steph_mitchell

“They should still be paid - other staff have been covering for absent colleagues in my school. However, if the authority deducts pay, then it should use that money to bring in supply.”

“I am stuck in Dubai, I can’t get back, I am supposedly getting on a plane Friday according to my airline ... I can’t survive without being paid, I have bills and rent to pay at home and I am incurring costs here.”

benholdsworth (a head)

“It seems fairly straightforward to me. I will be paying all staff, teaching and non-teaching, who are stuck away through no fault of their own.”
