Like all revolutions, Margaret Thatcher’s effect on our education system has been highly contentious, with some positives and many bloody excesses (“Legacy of a woman who ‘liked a fight’”, 12 April). Her real legacy is left to the modern generation of schoolchildren. First, there can be no better role model for ambitious girls than a woman who became Britain’s first female prime minister. Thatcher shattered the glass ceiling and led by example. Second, her clarity of thought and passion for ideas, debate and Socratic argument are a lesson to any student.
