THE Government’s first Fresh Start school could face closure only weeks after its first head resigned.

Newcastle City Council fears the community has lost faith in Firfield community school in Blakelaw despite pound;2.5 million extra Fresh Startfunding. Only 50 primary children have picked the school as their first choice for September when 170 are required. “Super-head” Carol McAlpine resigned last month after only 18 months claiming she had been given unrealistic targets.
